Effective this month, employers in Minnesota will be required to fund Family and Medical Benefits through their payroll systems (to be simple). The State has allowed employers to self-insure if they wish to not participate. One of those requirements to self-insure is a Family and Medical Benefit Bond, which most bond carriers in Minnesota are not currently writing.

Workman Insurance has resources to quote and issue these bonds at a very competitive rate, and we have already issued one for a current customer. The process is very quick and affordable.

We are excited to announce that we began a new partnership with National General Insurance Company starting today. National General is an Allstate company that is offering personal and commercial auto policies, motorcycle, recreational lines and other personal lines products. They will write non-standard risks for drivers with poor driving history or international drivers licenses.

A few quick observations about National General - they are the only carrier we have seen that offers replacement cost coverage on vehicles regardless of the age of the vehicle (some will offer on brand new vehicles), they offer accidental death and dismemberment plans for individuals or families up to $50,000, and a general protection plan that covers items like ambulance reimbursement, emergency room indemnity, and excess medical expense reimbursement.

We are excited to see what kind of success we can find together with this new partnership.

We are very excited to announce that we have started a new partnership with Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC). BHHC is a group of six insurance carriers designed to deliver competitive coverage on risks related to commercial and residential property that normal markets won't traditionally cover (vacant property to auto salvage yards), and commercial auto accounts which include trucking, towing, delivery, food trucks and medical transportation to name a few.

We have always had the ability to cover just about any risk out there, but this new partnership allows us to stay competitive and continue to find the best price and coverage on the market while offering conveniences like direct billing, online customer portals and faster renewals.

Quick update on our opening in Saint Peter. We are still finalizing the last of the utility work on the remodel and getting all the inspections and licenses in place. It has taken a little longer than anticipated but we are very close. We are shooting for May 21st as our opening date and should be able to finally make it official very very soon...
