Can you believe it's almost June 1st already? I think we've had enough rain for a summer! With storm season upon us, now is the time to double check those gutters, downspouts, and shingles.β›ˆβ›ˆβ›ˆ

If your water doesnt have a nice, clear path to flow through the gutters, we all know it will find its own way! To prevent water in your basement, make sure those gutters are clean and the downspouts dont have any fun surprises from the chipmunks using it as their pantry!🐿🐿

Do any of your shingles need to be patched or replaced? Don't wait! Enjoying your morning coffee without feeling a drip on your head! If you can't get up on the roof yourself, please call a professional! It will save you $$$$ in the long run.

From all of us at Southeast Mutual, please have a safe and healthy summer! As always, feel free to call, message, or stop in with questions or concerns. 🌞

Thank you for trusting us to protect you!

Good Morning SEM family! While all of us continue to navigate the current pandemic, we encourage all of you to keep doing your part! No lecture needed, as you see it on every piece of media out there 🀣🀣

During this time, our essential status still has us completing our required renewal inspections. We adhere to the social distancing requirements, so please don't be offended if we keep our distance!

Just a friendly reminder, we will notify you before we come so you don't think some stranger is combing your property! SEM has added some friendly faces, so you might meet one of our new agents or directors.

We thank you for your business and know we have your back!

It looks like that time of year where we start to hang those Christmas lights! Here are a few safety tips to make sure those lights you're hanging pass the test! No one wants to call your insurance agent and report the fire trucks are there!

1. Replace those old or damaged lights!

2. Make sure you see the "UL" (Underwriters Laboratory) label on your new lights. This means they have been designed and manufactured to meet industry specs for safety!

3. Make the switch to LED's. They are cool to the touch and will save you $$$$$ on that electric bill.

4. Don't overload your power strips! This can cause the power strip to over heat and start on fire.

5. When hanging lights, use clips, not nails or screws. You don't want to puncture the wires, causing a malfunction or worse yet, possibly a fire.

6. Keep that Christmas tree hydrated!

7. Use a GFCI outlet for outdoor lights! This will protect your home electric system in the event your lights malfunction.

8. Ladder Safety! Use the appropriate sized ladder...Falls are the highest ER related injury during the holidays!

9. Don't run lights through windows or doors. The pressure on the light strand can crack/fray, and cause an electrical fire

10. Make sure you check if your lights say "Indoor only". Those lights do not have the proper insulation required to withstand the elements. Several issues could present themselves if those are used outside.
