If you own and live in your home as your primary residence, this can lower your property taxes. File with your County Appraisal District (CAD)—it’s free.

🗓️ Deadline: Jan 1–Apr 30 (late filing allowed up to 1 year after delinquency).
🆕 New buyers: If no prior homestead was on the home Jan 1, you can apply now and some CADs will prorate savings.
👵 Over‑65/Disabled: Extra exemptions + school tax ceiling.
💳 Have your TX ID with your property address handy.
