Looking to buy a home at 7%+ interest rate?

Here’s what I’d do right now (and one mistake to avoid).

1. Ask my lender about buying down your rate. Whether it’s a permanent or temporary rate buydown, compare the costs with the monthly savings.

2. Look for homes where the seller may offer a credit. Credits can potentially help cover closing costs including a rate buydown.

3. Focus on the monthly payment, not just the rate by asking my lender to show me different loan scenarios. Compare and find the payment I’m comfortable with.
