A child born today has something more valuable than almost anything else in finance…
Time.
With enough time, even relatively small contributions can grow into something extraordinary because of the power of compound interest.
That’s why there has been so much discussion recently about the new Trump Education Accounts designed to help families start saving for their children’s education.
Programs like this can certainly help some families. But the bigger lesson is that parents and grandparents don’t have to wait for a government program to start building a financial head start for their kids.
Consider a simple example of compounding:
• $2,000 invested at birth
• $100 per month contributed
• 8% average annual growth
By age 18, that account could grow to more than $60,000.
But here’s where the real power of compounding shows up…
If that money simply stays invested and continues modest contributions over time, it could potentially grow to $1 million or more over a lifetime.
Recently, I had the privilege of helping a young family start accounts for each of their three young children using IUL (Indexed Universal Life) strategies designed to harness this same long-term compounding effect.
Helping parents take practical steps like this for their children’s future is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. There’s something incredibly meaningful about knowing a decision made today could help create education opportunities, financial flexibility, and long-term security decades from now.
The real lesson from all the talk about education accounts is simple:
You don’t have to wait for a program.
You can start building a financial head start for your children today.
Because sometimes the greatest gift we can give our kids isn’t just money…
It’s time in the market.
If an account like this had been started for you when you were born, how different do you think your financial life might look today?
If you’re curious about how strategies like this work or how families are setting them up for their children, I’m always happy to have a conversation and share what I’ve learned helping other families get started.
