Our Heritage

Our institution was originally chartered in 1919 as the Brownstown Loan & Trust Company. The first branch office of the Brownstown Loan and Trust Company was established in 1936 in Crothersville. The Peoples Bank was formed in 1965 with the consolidation of the Brownstown Loan & Trust Company and the First National Bank of Brownstown. In 1977, our first Seymour branch was established on US Highway 50 and Airport Road intersection on the west edge of Seymour. and Tipton Street intersection on the east side of Seymour. TPB Bancorp, a one-bank holding company organized in 1984, is the parent company of The Peoples Bank

In observance of Columbus Day, all The Peoples Bank locations will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026.

The Peoples Bank has been made aware of scammers spoofing our phone number and calling customers in an attempt to obtain personal and financial information. These calls may appear to come from The Peoples Bank, but they are not from us.

We have also received reports of fraudulent emails claiming that your online banking password has been reset, even though no password change was requested. These emails may include a link asking you to take action.

Please remember:
🔒 The Peoples Bank will never call, text, or email you to ask for:
• Online banking passwords
• One-time verification codes
• Debit card numbers
• Card expiration dates
• CVV/security codes
• PINs or other sensitive personal information

If you receive a suspicious phone call, text, or email:
✅ Do not provide any information.
✅ Do not click on links or open unexpected attachments.
✅ Hang up or delete the message.
✅ Contact The Peoples Bank directly at 812-358-4000 or by visiting one of our branches.
