*From my stories into a shareable post as per your request though I’m not sure how relevant this is in pandemic times!* FI Beauty: Laser Hair Removal edition.

I think people should be free to do and spend as much as they wish on their personal appearance.

That said, don’t be stupid. Do your own research. Read the studies. Don’t blindly listen to your friends or beauty influencers/bloggers. Have a healthy amount of skepticism with anyone, regardless of their degree or title, who stands to profit from you.

*Note that the laser type is important: different skin types will require different lasers Laser hair removal is most effective on people with pale skin and dark hair. The laser likes contrast. It targets pigment so if you have pigment in your skin, treating you is trickier and you may not have as great of results. It is also more dangerous. Gentler settings and lasers will need to be used. Sorry! Again, don’t be dumb and do your own research.

Your life is a whole lot like the stock market.

There will be highs. There will be lows.

Sometimes it’ll feel like you just lost EVERYTHING.

But one thing is for certain: you’re always growing. Slowly but surely.

Some things that happened in 2020:

💩 I moved into my own apartment a mere month before the NYC rental market hit an all time low, potentially having missed out on some major savings
💩 I lost 75% of my income in March
💩 I entered my late 20s and my metabolism has seemingly slowed tf down accordingly 😩 (or maybe it was just that month of quarantine where I ate nothing but shrimp ramen for a whole month...literally, I would wake up at 4 in the morning and have 2 bowls of ramen sometimes 🤪)
💩 And, unfortunately, realized there were a few bad 🍳s in my life that made me feel small and unsupported

Rough times. BUT! In 2020, I also managed to:

🤠 Survive and ~THRIVE~ my first full year as a freelancer. If I could do it in 2020, in NYC, I now know I could do it ANY year, ANYWHERE.
🤠 Get my own damn apartment!!!! Only $1300, thank you very much. I’d been looking forward to this for SO long. Highly recommend.
🤠 Replace the income I lost in March and then some ✨ One door closes...
🤠 Saved my first 100k during the sh*tstorm that was 2020?!?
🤠 Met so many kind and supportive people?!? It’s honestly eerie how addition by subtraction works (thanks for introducing me to that saying, !) and I am grateful I made space in my life for these amazing folks.

The lows felt pretty low, but I ended the year at an all time high.

There WILL be more lows. Lots of them. That’s guaranteed. But I’m ready for them (mentally and fiscally) 🙂

The lows are temporary. You might not be at YOUR all time high, but I assure you it’s coming. Promise ❤️

Sorry if I didn’t respond to your DM yesterday, I was busy making bank 🤪

Still turning your nose up at gig-work?

Yesterday, I made $22/hour wrapping gifts for a total of $220.

That could be your electric bill. Your grocery bill. Your investment contribution for the month. That’s your *fun* money for the month! I am not special. World is your oyster.

FI-friendly telehealth resources that I recommend. All of these are really amazing. I've been using Honeybee Health and The Pill Club for a while now but I just recently discovered Khealth. Unlimited chats with doctors for only $108 annually! Nuts. I don't have health insurance and resources like these are a lifesaver. I've tried Dr. Says but I probably won't be using them anymore because they're not meant for recurring use but rather emergency care such as if you move and don't have a new doctor yet (or are in the middle of a pandemic and can't visit an in office clinic)
