As we continue celebrating 100 years of BankStar Financial, this features another piece of history preserved from the old Elkton location and thoughtfully repurposed for display in the new building!

Once a staple of Elk Street, this sign served as a visible symbol of the bank's commitment to the community. Today, it continues to remind us of BankStar's roots and the relationships that have shaped the last century.

As we continue celebrating 100 years of BankStar in 2026, this takes a look at Elkton’s move in 2024 and the preservation of a special piece of local banking history!

During the demolition of the old building and construction of the new branch, the team found creative ways to preserve Corn Exchange Bank history. One big project was carefully saving the safety deposit boxes and repurposing them as a display in our new lobby. The move took place on a cold, snowy day in January 2024, and the results were well worth the effort.

For generations, these boxes safeguarded some of life’s most precious possessions and important documents, representing the trust customers placed in their community bank. Today, they serve as a reminder of the relationships, memories, and stories that have been entrusted to us over the years!
