According to the Q2 2023 NMLS Mortgage Industry Report, about 30% of loan officers have exited the mortgage industry between Q4 of 2021 and Q2 of 2023. It's tough out there right now being in the real estate industry. The rate market hasn't been great, home prices have steadily been on the rise, housing inventory is low, and more buyers are being priced out. Our real estate market is facing adversity.

But with adversity brings an opportunity to grow, and Epic Mortgage continues to grow in loan officer count and production. We've had 3 amazing loan officers join the Epic Family within the last 2 weeks and are now 33 strong. I strongly believe that the reason we've been able to succeed and grow in this difficult market is because of the people here and the value and culture that we share. Times are challenging, but I still see nothing but smiles and positivity on everyone's faces when I go into the office. We are a tenacious group of people.

I had an amazing time speaking at the TEKsystems office in Downtown Milwaukee alongside The Wesell Group - Keller Williams yesterday! Together, we were able to put some great information infront of these young professionals who are going to start their home ownership journey soon!

We touched on various topics like:
1. Why own when you can rent?

Renting is simpler with less liability compared to owning a home. But owning a home allows you to build home equity that can be leveraged in a financially smart way down the road.

2. Why consider a multifamily home for your first purchase? The ability to offset your monthly payment using rental income and have a tenant help pay down your mortgage is huge.

3. How much do you need to buy a home? Down payments, closing costs, seller concessions, and loan programs all need to be considered. But the general answer is this: It can be a lot less than you might think.

4. What does the overall home buying journey look like? How does the realtor and lender work together to get you to the finish line and make the experience rewarding vs stressful? What does the offer and negotiation process look like? Buying a home can be a black box of an idea, but working with professionals who are in the trenches every day can save you money, time, and emotional damage 😂😂

I am honored to receive the Rookie of the Year award by Epic Mortgage!

When Epic Mortgage was first founded in September of 2022, they immediately came on my radar. Jason Bower, my AMAZING lender when I was still a realtor, had played a huge part in starting Epic Mortgage. I was invited to attend their first Epic Wednesday networking event and I was happy to go and support. Through many months of those events, I was able to get to know the other loan officers and people on the leadership team. I didn't have any intentions of making a career switch anytime soon, but I noticed that everyone there always had a smile on their face!

When I decided it was time to start a new chapter in my life and pursue a new career, everyone welcomed me with open arms.

I am only 6 months in but have grown so much in this profession since I started.

Anson, congratulations on your first multifamily purchase!

My client James found me when he was already under contract and half way through his home purchase. His lender told him that he didn't qualify for traditional financing a few weeks before close.

Using a DSCR loan, we were able to get past the hurdles at his previous bank and save the deal!
