🌳FYI. Tree damage is covered on your homeowners when it has fallen on your physical property such as a house, fence, garage, etc. If you have a tree that has fallen on a structure and need to remove it to prevent further damage to the structure please document and keep receipts for the claim.
💨If you feel your roof has sustained damage, reach out to a trusted professional to inspect your roof. Collect an estimate with documentation of damage.
⚠️Please make sure you are cautious of who you’re dealing with, as you’ll likely have multiple companies knocking on your door. It’s suggested to use a local company.
🌧️If you have any leaks, take the proper precautions to ensure no further damage occurs to the property. An example of this is tarping the damaged area. Many roofing companies offer this service. If you do this yourself, please be safe on the wet surfaces!
A few additional things residents can do:
❗️ If you rely on medically necessary equipment and lose power, or if you have an emergency, call 9-1-1.
⚠️ Stay clear of any downed power lines. Always assume they are live and dangerous; report them to your utility right away.
✅ Check on elderly neighbors, family, and anyone who may need a hand.
📌 For non-emergency help, contact your town’s local officials. You can also visit www.211ct.org or call 2-1-1 for more information.
✍️ Sign up for emergency alerts at portal.ct.gov/ctalert.
📌 Keep monitoring weather alerts over the coming days, as additional rainfall could bring a risk of flash flooding. Never drive through a flooded road.
⚠️ Always operate emergency generators outdoors, at least 15 to 20 feet away from your home, with the exhaust pointing away from all doors, windows, and vents
