Franklin wrote this more than 250 years ago, and it still holds up. πŸ“–

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." Every strong financial decision I have ever watched a client make started the same way, with understanding. Knowing what you own. Knowing why you own it. Knowing what it is for.

That is why education sits at the center of how I work. People who work with me do not just get a portfolio. They get an explanation.

What is one money concept you wish someone had explained to you sooner? Tell me in the comments.

A million dollars sounds like a lot, until you realize what it might actually buy you in 24 years.

Saving isn't enough. Your money needs to be working harder than inflation is working against it.

The most expensive investing mistake isn't a bad stock pick.

It's waiting until you feel "ready" to start.

The best time to begin was yesterday. The second best time is today. πŸ“² 914.268.0152

The beach bag goes back in the closet. The routine comes back out. πŸ“…

Every September runs smoother when the reset happens in August. That goes for morning alarms, school schedules, and yes, your money.

Swipe for the three-step fall reset we walk clients through this time of year: review what summer actually cost, refresh the budget for the season ahead, and rebalance before the year-end rush.

Save this for a weekend reset, and if you want a partner for step three, book a discovery call at roccojlafaro.com.

Why does a kid spend $100 in a single afternoon? πŸ‘€

My daughters asked me that last week. I laughed and said, "because it used to be a lot of money."

That conversation turned into something bigger. This fall, my daughters and I are sitting down for a new series about money, kids, and the conversations most families never have. How allowances work. Why anyone saves. What a dollar actually does.

It is honest, it is funny, and it might change your next dinner table conversation.

Follow along so you do not miss the first episode.

Financial literacy isn't a one-time lesson. It's a habit.

The more you understand about how money actually works, the better decisions you make, and the less noise you let in.

Save this for the next time someone asks you what diversification means. πŸ“Œ

Summer is forgiving. September is not.

I tell clients this every year around now. The trips, the events, the loose routines all catch up in the fall, when the year-end money decisions arrive. College bills. Open enrollment. Tax planning. They all show up at once.

Swipe through the three end-of-summer mistakes I see most, and give yourself a head start on the busiest financial season of the year.

If you want a second set of eyes before fall gets loud, book a discovery call at roccojlafaro.com.

This is what the spreadsheets are for. 🌴

I spent a few days in the Bahamas with my family this summer. Sun, sand, and exactly zero conversations about the market.

I talk a lot about portfolios and planning, and all of it points at moments like these. The goal was never the number. The goal is the freedom the number buys: the trip, the time, the people across the table.

What would you do with more financial peace of mind? Tell me in the comments. I genuinely read them.

Today is National Financial Awareness Day. Most people will scroll past it. Give me five minutes and don't be most people.

Awareness sounds soft until you remember every financial mess starts the same way, with numbers nobody was watching. The overdraft, the underfunded retirement account, the subscription graveyard. None of it happens in the open.

So tonight, run the check-up in this carousel. Pull up your accounts and answer four questions honestly. What came in, what went out, what you owe, what you've saved. Then look at your retirement contribution percentage and ask when you last raised it.

That's the whole assignment. No spreadsheet required, no judgment attached.

Families who do this once a year make noticeably better decisions than families who never look. I see the difference in my office every week.

Share this with someone who could use this advice.
