After more than 40 years of caring for our community, Mark and Becky Echard are beginning a well-deserved retirement. We’re grateful for everything they’ve given to their clients and to the agency and wish them a very happy retirement full of adventure!

Did you know most homeowner’s insurance policies include something called the 80% replacement cost provision?

It means your home needs to be insured for at least 80% of what it would cost to rebuild it today, or the insurance company might only pay part of your claim, even for small damages.

But here’s the catch: that doesn’t mean you should only insure your home for 80%. If you had a total loss, like a fire or major disaster, 80% coverage wouldn’t be enough to fully rebuild. That’s why it’s better to insure your home at 100% of its current replacement cost, to avoid falling short when it matters most.

Many insurance companies increase your coverage a little each year, but rising construction and material costs can outpace those adjustments. It’s smart to look over your policy regularly to make sure your coverage is still sufficient.

Picture this: Interstate 81 is backed up again, shocker. That quiet back road? Yeah, it’s calling your name louder than ever and you’ll still make it in time for your 9 AM meeting (barely). You’re cruising, windows down, actually enjoying the drive... until a deer jumps out. Too late. There goes your front bumper.

What do you do?
A) Slam the brakes and yell “WHY?!”
B) Text your boss “I’ll be late. Nature attacked.”
C) Google “Can I sue a deer?”
D) Wish you had auto insurance with comprehensive coverage.
E) All of the above.

Correct answer: E) All of the above, but mostly D.
