IBX members: what to know about Independence Blue Cross and Jefferson Health

Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and Jefferson Health are negotiating a new contract. Their current agreement runs through December 31, 2026. Both sides say they are still working toward a deal, and for now nothing has changed. Jefferson remains in-network for IBX members through the end of the year. If no agreement is reached, Jefferson doctors and hospitals, including Lehigh Valley Health Network, could become out-of-network for IBX members starting January 1, 2027. IBX has said both commercial and Medicare Advantage plans would be affected.

What you can do now:

- Check whether your doctors, specialists, or hospitals are part of Jefferson.
- Keep your scheduled appointments. There is no need to cancel or change care right now.
- If you are in active treatment or pregnant, ask IBX whether you may qualify for continuity of care.
- On Medicare? The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 to December 7, a good time to review your options.
