It has been a busy past week for agent Megan at the Calumet County Fair. She was there supporting her daughters and their fair projects but also supporting other local youth is there market animal sale projects. The office had the privilege of buying two youth exhibitors animal projects. This is one of the best parts of being local business in the community!

BEWARE OF “STORM CHASER” SCAMS

After a major storm, legitimate contractors often arrive to help. Unfortunately, so do people looking to take advantage of homeowners who are tired, overwhelmed, and trying to make repairs quickly.

Before agreeing to any work:

Get recommendations from people you trust
Research the company and verify its contact information
Ask for proof of insurance and any required credentials
Get the full scope of work and cost in writing
Read the contract before signing
Avoid paying the full amount upfront
Be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics or claims that you must decide immediately

Do not allow urgency to replace good judgment. A reputable contractor should be willing to answer questions, provide documentation, and give you time to review the agreement.
