When preparing to visit an inmate housed at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, it is imperative that you be aware of stringent guidelines concerning the manner in which this level 4 high-security jail is operated. As of January 2013, a staff of 325 works with 860 inmates. Located at 1106 North Avenue in Bridgeport and currently serving the courts of Bridgeport, Ansonia, Danbury, Derby, Milford, Norwalk and Stamford, the mission of staff at the facility is to provide an environment for inmates that are conducive to productivity and non-violence, through various educational and volunteer programs. Keep in mind that no visitors are permitted to bring cell phones inside the building, and visitation never occurs on State Holidays. Visitors under age 16 must provide two valid documents of identification. Background checks will be conducted on all people added to an inmate's visitation request form.
