🚨 SCAM ALERT: The FBI Boston Division is warning New England residents about a new impersonation scam.
📞 Scammers pose as financial institution representatives and claim the victim’s information was used to open an account to purchase illegal fi****ms.
🚔 The victim is then connected with a fake FBI agent and may receive a call that appears to come from FBI Boston’s actual phone number.
📱 Scammers may request personal or payment information and direct victims to communicate through an encrypted messaging app.

REMINDER: Caller ID can be spoofed. The FBI will never call or email to demand payment, threaten arrest, or request sensitive personal information.
