What we caught 🔍

The whole payment was treated as a cost, so the loan balance in the books didn’t reflect what had actually been paid back.

A loan payment has two parts: the interest, which is an expense, and the portion that pays back the loan, which lowers the balance. When they aren’t separated, the books stop matching reality.
