“When Life Gives You Storms… It Also Gives You Insurance Claims!”

Another round of storms, another flood of home claims! If you’re wondering how this all works, here’s a quick (and hopefully painless) breakdown:

💰 What’s a Deductible? It’s the part of the claim YOU pay before insurance kicks in. Think of it like the cover charge for the “Fix My Roof” party.

🏚 Older Roofs & Depreciation: If your roof is past its prime, your payout might reflect its “vintage charm” rather than full replacement cost. Translation: you might not get enough to buy that brand-new roof without some extra savings.

🔨 Tiny Dents, Big Surprise: Small dings in gutters and downspouts? Some policies cover them, some don’t—unless you have an endorsement. (No, not like a celebrity sponsorship… though that would be nice.)

Moral of the story? Know what you have and what you’ll have to pay before the storm clouds roll in! If you’re not sure, give me a call—I’d rather you know now than be surprised later. Stay safe out there!

If you’ve had wind or hail damage, here are a few things to consider before filing a claim:

✅ Know Your Deductible – Understand your wind and hail deductible before starting a claim so know your out of pocket costs.

✅ KnowYour Roof Coverage – Many policies now factor depreciation for older roofs and dont pay full replacement. Know what yours covers so you understand your out of pocket commitment.

✅ Document Everything – Take clear photos of all damage for your records.

✅ Prevent Further Damage – Make temporary repairs to avoid more loss if you can

✅ Get Local Estimates – Use licensed, insured local contractors— “not out-of-town storm chasers” that may not stand behind their work.
