⚠️Spot the Scam - Timeshare Scam

In a timeshare scam, the scammer will pretend to be a timeshare reseller or real estate agent. They will promise to help you get out of your timeshare for a good price. They will ask you to send money up front, often times via wire transfer, for the real estate transaction fees. They will then claim that more fees came up that were unexpected and ask you to send more funds, and inevitably, the sale never takes place.

Never send money via wire, gift card, or reloadable card to pay the sale of a timeshare.

▪️Providing account information by phone or in person, as well as information on the full range of Credit Union products and services.

▪️Opening accounts for members, interviewing, and professionally handling the member’s daily needs.

▪️Providing a variety of transaction services to members including loan processing, closing, and disbursal.

▪️Processing, closing, and disbursing agricultural, business purpose, consumer, and real estate loans.

▪️Assisting members in opening individual retirement arrangements (IRAs) and any transactions with an IRA.

This morning, members of the Financial Fraud Fighters attended the Ageless Expo held at The Center and educated attendees on scam and fraud trends.

The Financial Fraud Fighters is a collaboration of local credit unions working together to help fight fraud in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
