TAKE 👏🏼 PICTURES 👏🏼 OF 👏🏼 YOUR 👏🏼 HOUSE! 👏🏼

As you’re securing your house in preparation of the incoming storm, go around and take pictures of everything — inside and out!

• Take wide-angle, mid-range, and close-up shots
• Open kitchen and dresser drawers
• Photograph any valuable items and important documents
• Get detailed pictures of your doors and windows to minimize disputes about impact damage (dents/scratches)
• BACKUP the photos in multiple locations. Put them on a thumb drive and upload them to the cloud (iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.)

As soon as possible after the storm, try to get someone to come perform thermal imaging of your home to identify hidden water damage before it dries. Many home inspectors will offer this service for a couple hundred dollars, and it’s well worth the cost!
