We’ve had the privilege of seeing the MoonPay X Games League from a unique perspective over the last few months, and Bob Burnquist has always been a friendly face across the world, whether it be California, Japan, or Louisiana.
As the GM of XC São Paulo | Skate & BMX, Bob Burnquist | Skateboard Artist built a team and culture that always stood out not just for their athleticism, bravery, grit, and talent, but their class, respect, and admiration for their competitors and peers.
The league based X Games format has changed many things about action sports, but perhaps most interesting is that despite the fact that these athletes are competing head to head for personal and team pride, and financial prizes, everyone can’t help but feel like a big family genuinely rooting for each other’s success, whether on the same team or not.
We can’t help but feel that Bob and other OGs, GMs, and action sports veterans that have been part of this journey and experience are a huge part of that culture - where even your rivals are friends, and every trick is worthy of celebrating, even if it costs you a medal.
We’re honored to play our part in it and continue to watch in amazement and awe as some of the best young athletes in the world defy gravity, and the odds, to build the future of the MoonPay X Games League.
