FDA Approves Eli Lilly Diabetes Drug

The Food and Drug Administration has approved Mounjaro, a new once a week injection treatment for type 2 diabetes made by Eli Lilly that lowers blood sugar and can help patients lose weight.

"Experts say this medication represents a groundbreaking advancement in the diabetes community".

One of the areas that my clients struggle with is diabetes and insulin. The Part D Senior Insulin Savings Program has helped for the insulins that are covered, but not all insulins are. It will be interesting to watch and see how much this medication costs and if it is an affordable alternative. The fact that it may help with weight loss will be bonus. The idea that it is once a week treatment will be a draw for many.

Eli Lilly's Mounjaro can help diabetes patients lose weight and control blood sugar levels.
