GreenVest and South Baltimore Gateway Partnership are turning tragedy into resilience. After a fire at Camp Small, GreenVest salvaged charred logs for restoration, creating a no-waste solution that kept the project on track and supported recovery. At GreenVest, we encourage our employees to take the time to lead educational and outreach initiatives in the communities that our projects serve. Such initiatives have included primary schools, universities, local neighborhood organizations, and camps such as Elks Camp Barrett.

As part of GreenVest’s ongoing commitment to local outreach and engagement, Laura Kelm, a GreenVest Project Manager, spoke to a group of seventh and eighth graders from the Banner School in Frederick, Maryland about the Muddy Creek Stream Restoration.

Building upon what they had learned in the classroom, Laura taught the students about ecosystems and natural life, stormwater runoff, watersheds, water quality, aquatic habitat, and erosion. Read more on our blog: https://bit.ly/49MCCic

GreenVest is honored to have one of our projects mentioned by Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Josh Kurtz. The Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative (MBRI) had its groundbreaking of its lead project, the Hanover Street Wetland Site, on April 19.

This project is Maryland’s largest coastal resiliency program, seeking to improve shoreline resiliency, habitat diversity, and water quality along ±11 miles of shoreline of the Patapsco River in Baltimore. This event celebrated the start of the first of many of the MBRI’s nature-based resilience projects.

GreenVest recently gathered with project partners adjacent to Coleman Creek on the banks of the Patuxent River to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Eagle Harbor Stream Restoration & Community Resiliency Project.

This event marked construction of a project that will address persistent flooding in this riverside community, foster an investment of resources and environmental justice to boost resilience in a town with rich history, and improve water quality entering the Chesapeake Bay.

On April 19, GreenVest celebrated the groundbreaking of the Middle Branch Resiliency Initiative’s lead project: the Hanover Street Wetland Site. This event, now nearly four years in the making, celebrated the commencement of construction for the first of many of the MBRI’s nature -based resilience projects.

GV joined South Baltimore Gateway Partnership, Green Trust Alliance, Environmental Quality Resources, federal, state and community leaders, and local residents to commemorate this momentous occasion.
