Finding Tournier’s lost works for the harp. (Part 2 of 2)

For years Carl Swanson, harpist and composer, and Catherine Michel, international harp performer, had heard rumors that there was music somewhere in the world that Marcel Tournier had composed that had never been published. For over 3 years, Swanson and Michel searched for the lost works and found not one, but 28 pieces of music composed by Tournier, all of which are now available for purchase!

This year, those 28 pieces have been published for the first time and are available in 3 editions, including Deuxième Fantaisie de Concert (Second Concert Fantasy) and Intermediate Pieces for Solo Harp, Vol. 1 & 2.

Most of the works Tournier had written as study pieces for his students. The manuscripts were written in Tournier’s signature composing style, with complicated and very hard to read markings and instructions.

Swanson and Michel have preserved Tournier’s intentions and instructions in each piece while simplifying each to be straightforward and easy to read for the modern harpist.
