We’re back with another Tall Ship Spotlight! 🇨🇱

The Chilean Navy’s Esmeralda, known around the world as the “White Lady,” has been sailing since 1953 and remains one of the most iconic tall ships still in active service today. At 371 feet long with a beam of 43 feet and a draft of 23 feet, she is one of the largest tall ships still in active service today. Her home port is Valparaíso, Chile, and she has long been used to train naval cadets in traditional seamanship.

Fun fact: Esmeralda isn’t the first ship to carry her name- she’s actually the sixth Chilean naval vessel to do so, continuing a legacy that spans generations of maritime history.

We can't wait to welcome the iconic Esmeralda to Boston on July 11!

Sail Boston 2026 is right around the corner, and it's time for another Ship Spotlight! 🇮🇹

Riding high in the water, with triple decks indicated by painted stripes, Tour Vespucci is the pride of the Italian Navy, and a gracious 20th-century goodwill ambassador. Named for the great explorer and cartographer of the 17th century, this elegant, full-rigged ship is a grand visitor to many ceremonial parades of sail.

You won’t want to miss this one! Come check out Amerigo Vespucci at Sail Boston, July 11-16.

The weather is getting warmer, and that means that the Tall Ships are getting closer! 😎

From completing needed repairs to onboarding new crew members, many of our visiting Tall Ships are hard at work prepping for this summer. If you want to see what some of them have been up to lately, then read our latest Ship Digest!

⚓ The crew of Bluenose II visited MMA Boat School in Halifax, Nova Scotia to watch students build their new mast hoops! These wooden rings will hold the sail to the mast, while allowing the sail to slide smoothly up and down.

⚓ After a farewell ceremony with military officials, the Tour Vespucci departed Genoa, Italy to kick start its 2026 North American Campaign. The Italian Tall Ship will visit Baltimore and New York City before sailing to the Bay State to take part in Sail Boston.

⚓ Earlier this month, the Kalmar Nyckel celebrated its 2026 opening day with free afternoon ship tours, outdoor and indoor activities, and ceremonial cannon fire.
