⚠️ I've seen a lot of recommendations for people to "just go to 'the Marketplace' or "the Exchange" and do it yourself", as a response to a request for help with health insurance, because they think it'll save money, and you don't really need an agent. ⚠️

⛔ Remember, just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD. You wouldn't recommend a small business owner do their own business taxes to save money, nor would you recommend someone represent themselves in court to save money. 🤷‍♂️

👨‍🏫 A good agent can review advantages AND disadvantages of EVERY option available, without a "sales pitch", and make sure you're not making any wrong or dangerous assumptions, so that you can make your own decision. 💡

😡 A long wait, while sitting on hold
😡 A service rep (not a licensed agent) that doesn't seem well trained
😡 Someone that doesn't know your situation, or your plan
😡 Being shifted around from department to department

😊 Having a local agent can alleviate all that. I can do all of that stuff for you, and I know how to squeeze the most benefit out of whichever plan you're on. 🦸‍♂️

🧑‍🏫 I often teach people questions they SHOULD be asking their agent when shopping for health insurance, because many times this isn't information that's offered freely otherwise, such as "What other options do I have?". 🤔

🤐 Many times, an agent won't offer certain options because they simply can't sell them. However, just because they can't offer them, doesn't mean YOU shouldn't consider them as an option. 🤷

🎉 We offer every type of health coverage, so we don't have to "sell" anything. We can just review all of your options and explain how they work so YOU can make the decision based on what YOU want. 🫵

🤰 I've had lots of calls recently from people who have chosen to go without health insurance, and now they're pregnant. So, they think now would be a good time to get it. 🤦

💡 Guys, the concept of ALL TYPES of insurance is to get it BEFORE you need it. This is no different than choosing to get auto insurance AFTER you've had an accident, or choosing to get home owner's insurance AFTER your roof flies off. It just doesn't work that way. 🙅

💰 That being said, there are plans that will help. However, between the expensive premiums and the high out of pocket exposure, you'll end up spending just as much (if not more). 😱

Most people hear “no annual deductible” and think they’ve got great coverage… but that can be misleading 🐂💩

Nearly all of these are indemnity plans, meaning they pay fixed amounts—not the full bill. So if something major happens 🏥, you could still be stuck with huge out-of-pocket costs 💸

That’s why catastrophic coverage matters—it protects you from worst-case scenarios by limiting what you pay and covering the big stuff.

👉 Don’t just pick a plan that sounds good—make sure it actually protects you when it matters most.

🙋‍♀️ How many of my SELF-EMPLOYED friends have said, or heard someone say, "I don't need health insurance because I never go to the doctor"? 🙋‍♂️

💀 This is a very dangerous misconception! The primary purpose of health insurance is not to pay your bills for you when you go to the doctor. It's to protect you financially from a large claim (just like your car insurance or your homeowner's insurance). ⚠

🎰 If you "never go to the doctor", then you don't need a plan with a bunch of bells and whistles...but please don't roll the dice that nothing major will ever happen to you, because that's a bet you'll lose, eventually. And if you don't have catastrophic coverage, it's going to cost you, or your family, a fortune! 🎲

❓ I get asked quite often if it's cheaper to put the whole family on one plan, and the answer is..."sometimes". It really depends on the needs of everyone in the family. But, if that's pretty consistent, then yes it's absolutely less expensive to have everyone on a family plan. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
