🙋‍♀️ How many of my SELF-EMPLOYED friends have said, or heard someone say, "I don't need health insurance because I never go to the doctor"? 🙋‍♂️

💀 This is a very dangerous misconception! The primary purpose of health insurance is not to pay your bills for you when you go to the doctor. It's to protect you financially from a large claim (just like your car insurance or your homeowner's insurance). ⚠

🎰 If you "never go to the doctor", then you don't need a plan with a bunch of bells and whistles...but please don't roll the dice that nothing major will ever happen to you, because that's a bet you'll lose, eventually. And if you don't have catastrophic coverage, it's going to cost you, or your family, a fortune! 🎲

🐂 So, how many of you have sat through a presentation or a sales pitch where the "agent" says things like...

💩 "Private Insurance" is better than "Government Insurance"
💩 The Marketplace is terrible coverage and it's only getting worse
💩 The deductible on Marketplace plans is over $9,000
💩 The average price for a Marketplace plan is $1,200/month
💩 You might qualify for a plan specifically designed for small business owners or (insert your industry here)
💩 You should be on this plan which is better benefits for less money

🙄 I don't know how to say this other than to just say, IT'S ALL BS! The health insurance agents out there that truly have your best interests at heart are the ones that are DUAL-CERTIFIED. These are people that can offer ALL options, and not just what makes the most commission. 🤬

💡 So, here's a tip, ask your agent if they are CMS-certified. If they aren't, you're either going to get half-truths or outright misinformation. 🐂💩

🏷️ Many times I evaluate someone's existing coverage and realize there are additional pieces added to their plan that they were not aware of. 🤔

😡 Certainly, these supplemental benefits can provide value. Yet, more often than not, they were added without the client's knowledge or consent. In which case, they provide no value to the insured, add to the monthly cost, and can easily be removed to save money. 💰
