One of the most interesting conversations I have with business owners is about value.
Not because valuation is complicated, but because owners and buyers often view the same business through very different lenses.
Owners naturally see the years of effort, sacrifice, relationships, and risk that went into building the company. Buyers tend to focus on something else entirely: future cash flow, transferability, and perceived risk.
That difference in perspective can create surprises — both positive and negative.
The article below explores why many business owners don't have a clear understanding of what their business would actually command in today's market, and why knowing your value is important long before you're ready to sell.

I'm curious: If you asked a business owner what drives value, do you think most would say revenue, profit, growth potential, or something else?
