Cargo theft is evolving. Is your operation ready? 🚛
According to our partners at Acuity, today's cargo thieves aren't just targeting unattended trailers. Some are impersonating legitimate carriers and brokers to gain access to high-value loads. Industry reports show cargo theft is still rising, and smaller fleets are also at risk.

Here are a few ways to proactively protect your freight:

🅿️ Plan routes and parking ahead. Pick secure parking before the trip, and don't leave loaded trailers unattended when it can be avoided.
🧠 Train your drivers. Drivers are your best defense. Reinforce how to verify dispatch instructions, keep shipment details private, and report anything suspicious.
🔒 Layer your security. GPS tracking, trailer locks, cargo seals and regular check-ins between dispatch and drivers help deter theft and improve the odds of recovering a stolen load.
📋 Review your cargo limits. Load values, theft trends and customer contract requirements change. If your cargo limit hasn't been reviewed lately, it may not match what you're hauling today.

Our story started in 1979, when a group of Idaho logging and log-hauling contractors got together to improve safety across their industry, and find coverage that actually fit how they work. That effort became the Associated Loggers Exchange.

In 2005, the Exchange's Board of Governors took the next step and founded Associated Insurance Services, a full-service independent agency. Today we're still logger-owned and local, and we're proud to insure more than 70% of Idaho's loggers and log truckers.

🚨 Before you clear a sewer line, here's one important phone call to make!

Have you ever heard of a "cross bore"? Many property owners haven't, but understanding this hidden hazard could prevent a devastating accident. A cross bore is when a natural gas line is unintentionally installed through a sewer pipe during trenchless construction, and it usually isn't on a map.

This means that if a rotating cutter is used to clear a clogged sewer line, the gas line could be cut, putting natural gas into your sewer system and creating a risk of explosion, severe property damage, serious injury, or even loss of life.

We believe that helping our clients and communities stay informed is an important part of managing risk. So, if you own a building, manage property, or perform contract plumbing work, here are some safety tips to keep in mind:

☎️ Call Intermountain Gas (or whoever your natural gas supplier is) at 800-548-3679 BEFORE clearing a sewer line. In southern Idaho, Intermountain Gas will locate and mark the line for free.

⛔ Never clear a line until you know what the clog is.

‼️ If you notice bubbles in the toilet or smell gas, evacuate the building immediately! Leave the exit door open if possible, and call 911 and Intermountain Gas from a safe distance.

This 25th anniversary of 9/11 is indeed a solemn day. We remember and honor the 2,958 people who died in the attacks, the many tens of thousands whose health has suffered since, and the millions whose lives were never the same.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Happy 60th anniversary to the Associated Logging Contractors - Idaho! Megan Page, Jordan Schram, Harrison Collard, and Emily Schneider enjoyed celebrating with many of our client-owners over the weekend in lovely Orofino, Idaho. Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, Tom Schultz, was the keynote speaker on Saturday night, and we all appreciated his commitment to healthy forests. We are lucky to work with such great people!
