This morning I was greatly humbled by my 4-soon to be 5 year old son. As we were getting ready for the day, I stepped on the scale and told him how much I weighed. He took that opportunity to not say anything but smile and slap my belly. Naturally, I couldn't help but laugh as my belly rippled in waves. (Slight exaggeration) But this moment made me think back to my goals and progress as we close out the first month of the year.
You see, my son may have not meant anything ill or menacing about it. But rather brought to my attention that others may not see the progress you have made. They do not know the goals you've set or in which, how you measure your success. Let this be as a reminder that your goals are for you to know. Your goals are also for those who you hold closest in your heart or in that tighter circle of friends & mentors.
Why you might ask? Simply because we need accountability. Sometimes that swift slap on the tummy or nudge to keep you in check will keep you aligned with what you are striving for. You need someone in your corner encouraging you to press in. Dig deeper. Get back on track. Or remind you that you aren't doing the right things in order to accomplish what you set out to do.
Whatever it is that you're aiming for. Whenever doubt is settling in. When nay-sayers try to bring you down. Stick to your goals & grind it out. You WILL see success. Others will see your progress even if they don't want to. But most importantly, honor God when you're in the trenches or on the side of victory. In the end, there are few and far things in life that truly matter. To me, God first, family second, daily provision third.
This is what I am trying to walkout this year. Not just with my lips but with action and intention. I wish you all a year full off success and blessings! ✝️ 👨👩👧👦
