Good hearing supports more than just conversation — it helps you stay connected, confident, and independent in everyday life.

About one in three adults over 65 will experience some degree of age-related hearing loss, and it often develops gradually. If you've noticed yourself asking people to repeat themselves or turning the TV up more than usual, it may be a good time to talk with your doctor about your hearing.

Your health plan includes hearing benefits through TruHearing, including $0 in-network routine hearing exams and hearing aid options designed to fit a range of budgets, so you can get the support you need to stay connected to the people and moments that matter.

📘Have questions about your plan?
The fastest way to find answers is your Evidence of Coverage (EOC).

Your EOC is your plan’s official guide. It includes:
• What benefits are covered
• How much you pay for covered services and prescriptions
• How to find in-network doctors and pharmacies
• How your plan works and what to expect throughout the year

Think of it as a trusted reference you can turn to anytime questions pop up!

We also understand that not every question has a simple answer — and that’s where our Member Services team comes in. If you need clarification, support, or just want to talk things through, Member Services is here to help you understand your coverage with confidence.

This week in our stress series, we’re shifting the focus to small, everyday actions that may help when stress starts to build.

Managing stress doesn’t have to involve major changes or complicated routines. For many people, simple habits can help create a greater sense of balance over time, such as:
▪️ Pausing to breathe
▪️Taking a break for gentle movement, such as walking or stretching
▪️Keeping a consistent daily routine
▪️Staying connected with others
▪️Stepping away from screens or silencing notifications for a few minutes

It’s important to remember that stress management looks different for everyone. The goal isn’t to do everything perfectly — it’s to try things out, notice what feels supportive, and build from there.

Try one small step today to help you slow down and reset.

📄 Understanding Your Explanation of Benefits

After you receive care, you will get a document called an Explanation of Benefits (EOB). While it may look official or detailed, it’s important to know that an EOB is not a bill. Instead, it’s a summary that helps you understand how the plan processed your claims.

Your EOB shows:
✅What services you received
✅The total cost
✅ What your plan paid
✅ What you paid (or may be billed)
✅ How close you are to your yearly out‑of‑pocket maximum

EOBs are usually sent once a month and include care from the previous month.

🔍 Why review it?
Taking a few minutes to look it over can help you understand your benefits and spot questions early —before a bill arrives.

📞 Need help?
If something doesn’t look right or doesn’t make sense, Member Services is here for you. Our team is available to help explain your EOB and answer any questions so you can better understand your coverage.

Member Services is available daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling 1‑800‑240‑3851 (TTY: 711).

As we continue our May series on stress, we’re taking a closer look at how ongoing stress can affect the body — not just how we feel emotionally.

Stress can create physical responses in the body that may make it harder to manage certain aspects of health. Over time, changes in routine, sleep, emotions, or daily habits connected to stress can influence how the body functions day to day. And for people managing chronic conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, these shifts can be especially noticeable.

Stress doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong — it simply highlights how closely the mind and body are connected.

Paying attention to stress levels and how you’re feeling over time can help support meaningful conversations with your doctor about your overall health and well‑being.

If you’re managing a chronic condition, consider checking in with your doctor about how stress may be affecting your health.

Bone health is an important part of healthy aging. Osteoporosis can develop quietly over time, making screenings and ongoing care an important part of staying informed and proactive about your health. Preventive care and follow-up visits can help support strength, stability, and mobility.

🦴 Consider talking with your doctor about your bone health at your next visit.

As part of our May series on stress, we’re taking a closer look at where stress comes from.

Many people think of stress as something that comes from a tough situation, and often that’s true. But sometimes, stress simply comes from change. Any change, whether good or bad, asks our minds and bodies to adapt. That takes energy. And for older adults especially, multiple changes happening close together can feel overwhelming, even if each one seems manageable on its own.

Here are some common life changes that older adults experience and may find stressful:
• Retirement or any major change in your schedule/routine
• Health challenges or a new diagnosis
• Moving out of a longtime home
• Welcome a new grandchild or great grandchild to the family
• Attending a big family event/celebration
• Traveling or taking a long-awaited trip
• Picking up a new hobby or joining a new community

Recognizing stress for what it is — a natural response to change — is the first step to managing it with intention and self‑compassion.

Take a moment to check in with yourself: Has a recent life change added more stress than you expected?
