CALLING ALL HOME BUILDERS, REAL ESTATE DEVELOPERS, INSURANCE AND REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS, ARCHITECTS, LAND MANAGERS AND LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONALS!
🔥 WILDFIRE RISK IS RISING. SO ARE HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE CONCERNS. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?
As wildfire risk grows in Kendall County, some residents are receiving notices that their homeowners insurance will not be renewed.
We can't control the drought, wind, heat or other conditions Mother Nature hands us. But we can change what a wildfire finds when it reaches our homes and neighborhoods.
The answer begins long before the fire.
🏠How and where we build matters.
🌳 How we landscape and manage vegetation matters.
🔥 How we prepare existing homes matters.
🛡️How insurers recognize meaningful risk reduction matters.
And that means all of us have a role in the solution.
On September 30, the Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas is bringing together builders, developers, architects, planners, insurance professionals, real estate professionals, landscapers and land-management professionals for:
A Wildfire Prepared Home Workshop: Building a More Fire-Resilient Kendall County
đź“… Wednesday, September 30, 2026
⏰ 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
📍 Boerne City Hall, 447 N. Main St., Boerne
Experts from the International Code Council (ICC), Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), Wildfire Prevention Co., The Slaydon Agency and Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas will discuss practical ways to reduce wildfire risk through construction, landscaping and mitigation.
We'll explore the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ and Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood™ programs, what it takes to make an existing home more wildfire prepared, how we can incorporate wildfire resilience into new construction, and the connection between risk reduction and homeowners insurance.
But we don't just want you to listen. We want you at the table.
If you build our homes, develop our neighborhoods, design our landscapes, manage our land, sell our properties or insure our families, you can be part of the solution.
Imagine if wildfire resilience became something we considered before the first lot was cleared, before the first home was designed, and before a homeowner ever received an insurance non-renewal notice.
That's the conversation we want to start.
