With condo costs crushing Florida homeowners, state lawmakers are taking action. The Florida Senate unanimously approved a measure to expand the My Safe Florida Condo program — targeting older buildings and lower-income residents hit hardest by rising insurance bills and steep special assessments.

The bill would extend the program past its current coastal limits, focus on condos built before 2008, and even cover devices that protect against wind-driven rain through sliding glass doors.
