As you scroll through your social media feed today, what do you see?

Do you see people living their best lives? Are they posting their highlight reels and showing off all the things that are going right - at home, at work, at play?

You know as well as I do that it’s all a facade. Nothing is ever as perfect as it seems, especially on social media… but as a 50-something who is pretty darn confident in who I am and what I’m capable of, the comparison game doesn’t really faze me.

You see, I can look at the people half my age who are hitting accomplishments left and right and know that I’m just as smart, just as hard-working, and just as capable of achieving their level of success. To me, success means more money funneled into animal welfare. I’m sure you have your own “why” that goes beyond just finding financial stability… right?

Newsflash: No one cares if you win or lose.

At least not as much as YOU care.

When you surround yourself with truly supportive people, there’s no limits on what you can and can’t achieve. Yet at the end of the day, the buck stops at YOU.

Being your own boss is lonely. That’s the truth. There isn’t always someone there to bounce ideas, to check our work, to be our safety net. You have to have the confidence to make the big decisions, settle the conflicts, and get off the fence on tough choices.

My best advice is to just GO. Make the decision! It won’t always be the right one, but don’t get caught in the information-gathering cycle for too long. You just might get left behind.

Everyone says operating a business is great! You decide your income, you decide your schedule, you don’t have to answer to anyone… right?

Well for some, owning a business means working 7 days a week, 10+ hours a day, and dealing with double the stress. But in my case, I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn’t go back to working for somebody else for all the money in the world.
