In reality, delaying Medicare is not good or bad on its own. It depends on why you are delaying and what coverage you have in place while you are still working.
Many people think, “I’m covered through work, so I don’t need to think about Medicare yet.” Sometimes that is true. Other times, there are parts of Medicare that still deserve a closer look or timing decisions that matter more than people expect.
The misunderstanding is thinking there is a single rule that applies to everyone. Medicare timing is more personal than that, especially when work is still part of the picture.
Delaying can be the right choice. It just needs to be an informed one.
