I recently attended AIME Fuse, the largest Mortgage Broker Conference in the Nation. Had a great experience and met some really awesome loan officers and broker owners. One of the more fascinating panels was a group of 4, top producing, loan officers who recently made the jump to the Broker channel from the retail lending space.

I actually took notes during this panel as I was quite interested in what the panelists had to say. You see, my father started my brokerage in 1992, it is all I know, and I am proud of that. All 4 panelists spoke for quite some time and provided a lot of information. I noticed in my notes they ALL had common denominators:

1. The Loan Officers being held back by either the lenders high rates or by the lenders clunky process.

2. Freedom- The freedom to run your business the way YOU want to.

3. Becoming reliant on the big retail company. The large lender making the loan officer feel helpless with out their "support".

4. Transparency- Smoke and Mirrors coming from up the chain of command.

5. Options- Having the ability to truly find the best product for your client. Being tied down to one lenders products greatly inhibits a loan officers ability to grow and help their community.
