All food donations have been successfully dropped off!

Each year, I am amazed by the impact we’re making through the backpack program to help ensure Wells County kids don’t go hungry.

Plan on joining us next year Dec 10-12, 2026 in historic French Lick. This is a great opportunity to connect with the Ag community as well as enjoy some family time during the Christmas season! 🎄

Our delegates—Jake Slusher, Debbie Slusher, and Linda Sturgeon attended the 2025 Ag Gathering in French Lick this weekend! Travis Slusher and Steve Sturgeon were also in attendance.

Travis had a booth in The Market this year featuring Slusher Leather!

Wells County Farm Bureau and Farm Credit are working together again this holiday season to support the Wells County Backpack Program! 🦃🎄

Here is what you need to know:

▪️Collection bins can be found at Farm Bureau and Farm Credit, conveniently located next door to each other on Baker Place.

▪️We will be collecting donations from November 24 - December 23

▪️Items that are needed this year include:

- Cereal, 10-12 oz boxes. (No individual boxes)
- Canned beef, pork, and chicken (14oz)
- Peanut butter (16 oz container)
- Jelly/Jam (30 oz/smaller container)
- Hamburger or Chicken Helper, Mac & Cheese
- Canned fruits and veggies (No individuals)
- Microwave popcorn
- Granola Bars
- Fruit snacks (Welchs mixed fruit snacks)
- Shopping bags (Kroger, Dollar General, Aldi, etc)

** No expired items and no glass containers**

Agriculture in the Classroom lessons were presented today to the Wells County Homeschool group at Ryan & Kari Baker's barn. Attending the program were 12 families with 36 students. Patty Baker talked about field corn and Abby Wheeler talked about bees. Each family received a goodie bag, a bottle of honey, and everyone got to taste a cornflake treat.
