Katie Novak Cooperative Coaching Since the moment I learned about food co-ops I was all in. She chaired Green Top’s Owner Loan Campaign (2015-16) which raised nearly $1,500,000 in loans.

Katie’s interest in local food stems from years living in Colorado when her sister and brother-in-law recruited her to assist them as they opened a non-profit restaurant called SAME (So All May Eat) Café where customers are provided a healthy, organic meal regardless of their ability to pay. Katie continues to hold an “advisory” Board position with SAME Café and has served as the Outreach Coordinator for Green Top Grocery since April 2013. Katie has grown ownership (with the help of an army) from just over 100 owners in April 2013 to over 1600 currently. She is active in the Bloomington-Normal community and has served on the board of the local YMCA and currently serves on the board of Homes of Hope, a local non-profit that provides quality housing to adults with developmental disabilities. She’s a native of Central Illinois and is excited to help co-ops across the country open and grow!

‼️ New Mural Alert ‼️ The Co-op just got waaaay cuter!

This week, Elyse from We Are Semillas painted a beautiful mural on the Co-op's exterior and we couldn't be more grateful for her time and artistry.

Our iconic "CO-OP" sign at the entrance is a beacon for cooperators who know and love us, but some folks don't realize they're driving by a full-service grocery store when they cruise G St. Unlike all the other grocery stores in town though, ours is owned by the community. Come check it out!

The Co-op is home to a number of works by local artists including Wes Horn, Mark Rivera, and Phil Gross. We love supporting local artists and are excited to announce more projects soon!

This is a good read!

There are some places you visit because you need something. And then there are places you visit because they remind you that you belong somewhere. For years, grocery stores have quietly transformed from neighborhood gathering places into giant warehouses of convenience. Bright fluorescent lights. En...

It's right here in our mission statement: our focus on healthful, affordable, food for our community!🥕 How will we do that?

-By offering a line of "Everyday Value" items (a high-quality, lower price point products from our regional distributor)

-Working to accept SNAP, and to honor Food Bucks and Food Rx.

-Providing a "Food for All" program, offering a flat discount across all product categories for shoppers who use SNAP.

-Stocking a robust Bulk Bin food section: buy as much or as little as you want, so there's no waste. Plus we aren't paying for packaging or advertising.

-Sourcing locally for more economical transportation costs.

We're working hard to get our full-service grocery store open later this year, to all shoppers - we can't wait to shop with you!🛒

Congrats to these great co-ops, especially my friends at SunCoast Market!

is in the news! You can read 's article written by Andrew Ball here: https://austincurrent.org/2026/05/07/del-valle-grocery-store-coop-food/ (or our linktr.ee/atxcooperatives).

"Residents take matters into their own hands. By then, the Del Valle Food Co-Op, started by residents after years of waiting for the grocery store that never came, had taken matters into their own hands. The pandemic had underscored how badly the community needed access to healthy, locally-available groceries.... Launching a community grocery store can be successful, said Joel Gittelsohn, a professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The key is to have strong community support and a focus on specific offerings."
