⚓️ Want to meet one of the coolest and most interesting people at Indiana University?

Let me introduce you to Dr. Charles Beeker, Director of IU’s Center for Underwater Science.

Charlie is one of those people you can listen to for five minutes and suddenly realize you want to hear the rest of the story. His career in underwater archaeology, shipwreck exploration and preservation has taken him to some incredible places—and now you have an opportunity to hear him share some of that work right here in Indiana.

On September 30 from 4–5 p.m. at the Corydon Capitol State Historic Site, Dr. Beeker will present:

⚓️ Indiana Shipwreck Preserve System and the Alice Dean Project

He’ll share the story of Indiana’s underwater archaeological work, our state’s Shipwreck Preserve System, and the ongoing investigation of the Alice Dean, a Civil War-era steamer dating back to 1863.

If history, archaeology, diving, shipwrecks—or just hearing fascinating stories from a truly interesting person—sounds like your kind of afternoon, this is one I wouldn’t miss.

I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Charlie through Indiana University, and he is without question one of the most interesting individuals you’ll find on our campus.

Come hear his stories and learn about an amazing piece of Indiana history hiding beneath the water. 🤿⚓️
