I would like to amend my recent post to this because someone I know very well told me that they had a hard time beliving that I thought anything other that knowlege had any value
I was reminded of a quote by my hgh school "college prep" english teacher because I was lucky enough to get an fantastic education that most kids weren't privy to and today almost nobody gets.
I always thought that the four cornerstones of funtional society was honesty, loyalty, truthfulness, and trust. but the only thing worth stockpiling was knowledge (correct knowledge) and when I got old enough I would aquire wisdom but I apparentley have reached that age yet.
The quote was "I have come to believe that we have an inescapable responsibility for education of the spirit as well as the mind. There are other values that of the intellectual, and free society based on the dignity of individual men cannot survive without people of courage, integrity, tolerance humility, justice and love"
I have agued with her at the time and for a long time that knowledge is the only thing of real value but over the last few years the way things are headed, I have come to believe that quote may have so much more value and meaning than I had ever considered.
