Unexpected text from “someone you know”?

It might start with something simple like, “Hello, how are you?” or “Is this still your number?” — but don’t let a casual message fool you.

Scammers may send friendly, vague texts hoping you’ll respond and confirm your number is active.

If a text feels suspicious, your best move is simple:

Ignore.
Block.
Report.

And remember: IU Credit Union will never ask for your online banking password, full debit card number, or secure access code by text.

Student loan repayment programs are changing — and many borrowers are unsure what comes next.

Here are a few of the biggest updates to know:
• The SAVE repayment plan is being phased out after legal challenges
• A new repayment option called RAP is expected in 2026
• Parent PLUS and graduate loan rules are tightening
• Collections and repayment enforcement are restarting

If you have federal student loans, now is a good time to review your repayment plan, watch for updates from your loan servicer, and understand your options before more changes take effect.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
Scammers are impersonating sheriff’s departments across Indiana — and the caller ID may even look real.

Residents in Bloomington, Ellettsville, Greenwood, Johnson County, Monroe County, and across Central Indiana have reported fake calls claiming:
❌ you missed jury duty
❌ there’s a warrant for your arrest
❌ immediate payment is required

Then scammers demand payment through gift cards, Bitcoin, or payment apps like Zelle, Venmo and Cash App.

Real law enforcement agencies will NEVER demand payment over the phone.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and contact the agency directly using an official number.
