Donna K. Chafin, a beacon of generosity and joy, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024, in her hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, where she also first greeted the world on June 10, 1939. Known for her infectious laughter and selfless nature, Donna's life was a testament to the power of positivity.
A proud graduate of Unionville High School, Donna's entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish and successfully run the Bloomington Insurance Agency. Her professional achievements, however, were always balanced by her unwavering commitment to her community and her deep love for her family.
Donna's life was marked by her devotion to her family, who will cherish her memory and continue her legacy of love. She was a beloved sister to Judy (Joe) Landrey and Robert (Kim) Chafin. Though her parents, Robert and Alma Chafin, and siblings Fred, Vernal, and Ruth predeceased her, Donna's spirit of kinship extended to her sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Jane Chafin, as well as to her many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were a source of immense joy in her life.
A faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, Donna embodied the values of her faith in every aspect of her life. She was an avid reader, always eager to explore new worlds and ideas through the pages of a book. Donna's passion for travel took her to many places, but she found equal pleasure in the simple moments of life, always living up to her reputation as an "all-around happy camper."
Those who had the privilege of knowing Donna will remember her for the laughter that followed her like a melody. Her sense of humor was a gift that she generously shared, brightening the lives of all around her. Donna's selflessness was a quiet strength that underscored her every action, from her professional endeavors to her personal relationships.
Donna's absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. She taught us to approach life with kindness, to give without expecting in return, and to find humor in the everyday. Her generosity of spirit has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
As we bid farewell to Donna K. Chafin, we celebrate a life lived fully, joyously, and with an abundance of love. Her journey on this earth may have ended, but the stories of her generosity, her laughter, and her unwavering kindness will be recounted for generations. Donna's light will continue to shine in the memories of those who loved her and in the countless lives she touched with her extraordinary spirit.
A funeral service for Donna will be held at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm with Grant Quimby officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 11:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery.
