I took a truckload to Plumtree Church yesterday to make sure road travel was possible. Guys, there is utter devastation everywhere I looked. The small road in had several washed out sections with shear drop off hundreds of feet down to the river. A landslide took an entire house with it. Sadly both residents died. You can see it in the picture below. Another home in the county was taken by the river, the wife able to escape but the husband wasn’t and was swept away. The coroner hasn’t been able to keep up with the body count. As it’s continuing to climb he’s telling communities to get them in body bags unless there’s signs of suspicious death. The National media is failing us all. In this county, Avery County, they’re accounting for 200 deaths in a county with a year round population of 1700. This is coming directly from people in the community I spoke with yesterday. I met the pastor of Plumtree, his name is also Ryan, and some of the community who helped me unload the truck. They were all so kind and were grateful for everything we’ve collected so far. The gave me an updated list of necessity I’ll include below. Other grJeff Brownews, Jason Parksan awesome company. I let other COUNTRY Financial agents in Northeast Georgia know about our mission, and they spread the word and now we have a caravan of 5-7 trailer loads joining us. If you’re in Stephens County, Franklin, Hart, Madison, or really anywhere close-ish to Toccoa or Hartwell, Jeff Brown and Jason Parks are collecting items to take with them on Friday. If you want to financially contribute, you can Venmo me or reach out to them and get their Venmo. I’ll continue to post updates over the next 48 hours. I’ll be leaving Friday morning at 5:00 a.m. so please get with me today if you want to donate anything. Thanks to so many for supporting financially, awesome clients and community who have dropped things off, and all those in prayer. We are far more unified than the politicians give us credit for. God is good! I love you all!

Looking good so far!
We would like to collect about 3x’s this much water in the next 3 days if possible. Any donations can be dropped off at our office. Everything we collect will be taken on Friday directly to Western NC for immediate use by folks in need. We are delivering to Plumtree Church in Plumtree NC. That region was hit hard and they need the basic fast. Please help if you can.

Wow! Overwhelmed by the immediate support of so many in such a short time. We’ve begun purchasing water and other goods and will collect any donations at our office until we load the trailer on Thursday. Your support will go directly to the community of Plumtree, NC. We’ve partnered with Plumtree Church to distribute water, food, and all other items directly to those most impacted. Folk, people are suffering from this catastrophe. People in this community are running low on food, drinking from compromised streams, and desperate for help. We will load as much as we can in an enclosed 20 foot trailer and take it to them this Friday. Any donations are so much needed. If you’d rather donate monetarily, Meagan Lucas Anderson will be purchasing water, food, and items most needed. Every penny will go directly to a person in need. You can call me directly with any questions at 706-988-4742 or email me at [email protected]
Our office is located at 44a Blue Ridge Street, Blairsville, GA 30512

Help Needed:

The devastation from Helene in Western NC is sever. Roads are only beginning to open back up, power is still out, communication is limited, people are drinking from compromised creeks, and food is in short supply. There have been 50 unidentified bodies collected in the Linville area with hundreds more missing. I will be taking my 4x4 truck and hopefully a trailerload of water and non-perishable food items this Friday to the small community of Plumtree, NC. I’ve coordinated with a family friend and will be delivering all that I can take to the Plumtree Church who will be in charge of distributing directly to those in need. I’m humbly asking for any assistance you are willing to give. If you’d like to drop off water or non-perishable food goods at my office in Blairsville this week, that would be amazing. If you want to donate instead, I can coordinate something that works. Every dime will be distributed to those in need. This is an opportunity to be a light to those currently in a dark place. My office is located at 44a Blue Ridge Street, Blairsville, GA 30512. You can reach me directly at 706-988-4742.

Were you impacted by Helene? The safety of your family and getting you back on track are the highest priorities. As you navigate the aftermath of the storm, here are some considerations to keep in mind to mitigate further loss:

• Protect your property
Protect and clean up your property. Board up broken windows, cover holes with tarps, dry out wet spaces and take steps to prevent further damage.

• Save repair receipts
Save all receipts from emergency repairs.

• Take inventory
Make an inventory of your damaged property. Include age, model number, date of purchase and current purchase price for each item, if possible.

•Collect photographs
Take photos of your damaged property and give them to your claims representative.

If your home was damaged during the storm, it’s important to start the recovery and home insurance claim process as soon as possible. You can submit a home insurance claim three ways: by phone at 866-COUNTRY (866-268-6879), online at countryfinancial.com or through the COUNTRY Financial Mobile app.

As your insurance agent, I am here to help you navigate the unexpected. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me, if I can help you. Stay safe!
