I didn't get into insurance because it was a career plan.

I got into it because life happened — and insurance was the only thing standing between my family and financial disaster.

9 years ago, my daughter was burned badly. My husband and I spent a month in a burn unit with her. Neither of us worked. We couldn't.

What kept our bills paid during one of the scariest months of our lives? Supplemental insurance. Coverage that most people scroll past without a second thought.

We also have a son with disabilities. Navigating HIS insurance? Honestly — infuriating. Confusing. Overwhelming. And I'm someone who now does this for a living.
