THIS is what the ACLU and Pretrial Justice Institute are praising as a success. Thousands of unaccountable releases. Police are frustrated. Offenders are reoffending. Victims being victimized again.

Bogota, NJ – Charged with r**e 3-years-ago, man assaults and sends cop to hospital FREE TO GO under NJ Bail Reform.

Kareem Gibbs, 25, who was charged with r**e 3-years ago in Teaneck, was arrested during a pursuit with police officers that landed one officer out of work for at least a month.

Officers who were conducing a routine traffic stop discovered that Gibbs had outstanding warrants. After the officers confronting Gibbs, Gibbs took off on foot.

Gibbs was apprehended by the officers, however, the skirmish landed one officer with a broken finger, swelling and bruising on his face, a bloody nose and cuts and scr**es on his arms, the captain said.

Gibbs was later released and FREE TO GO less than 10 hours later under NJ Bail Reform after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined that he was not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

Bogota, NJ – Armed man robs gas station on bicycle, already released twice this year under NJ Bail Reform.

The same Arnold Foundation "risk assessment tool" used in New Jersey is being used in New Mexico, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio, California, and many other jurisdictions across the country.

Under the Arnold Foundation's "tool", apparently career criminals charged with armed robbery are "Low Risk" and walk FREE.

By their own admission, the Arnold tool's intent was to "moneyball" the bail system - eliminating accountable release. Proponents of "bail reform" were never concerned about public safety or the rights of victims...only how much they could reduce the jail population - with careless disregard of who they put back out on the street with zero accountability.

The same Arnold Foundation "risk assessment tool" used in New Jersey is being used in New Mexico, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio, California, and many other jurisdictions across the country.

Under the Arnold "tool", those charged with gun charges and robbery walk FREE - and some receive house arrest with an ankle monitor. How's that working out?

“No Substance” in Senator Harris’s Federal Bail Reform Legislation

"Perhaps most outrageously, Harris exhumes the terrible case of Kalief Browder. She claims that he is exactly the type of individual her legislation would aid. Browder was trapped in jail because he could not post bail and was so damaged from the experience that he subsequently committed su***de after he was freed. Numerous media accounts reported that Browder was unable to raise the money to be released. However, in actuality, he was on a probation hold for three years as a juvenile, making him ineligible for bail because of a prior conviction. It is completely unrealistic to believe that his family would not have been able to raise the amount of his premium — $300 total – if he had been able to legitimately meet the standards for bail. No matter how Harris wants to spin it, her ill-conceived legislation would have had absolutely no effect on the actual problems that caused Browder to be held needlessly. Yet she now exploits his tragic death to push for the expansion of preventative detention without the option of bail, wasting federal funds in the process. Ironically, it is this very type of system that led to Browder being stuck in jail, which resulted in his ultimate demise."

"Kamala Harris had the opportunity to effect genuine change in the bail system as California Attorney General, but did nothing but meekly play both sides of the issue. Citizens who believe her to now be the vanguard of the national bail reform movement should think again. Her efforts to convince her fellow U.S. senators to fork over $15 million to create “economic justice” is an insult to anyone who truly cares about making changes that will actually work."

Crime Survivors founder blasts “Public Safety Assessment” in letter to VP of Arnold Foundation.

"I believe the Foundation is attempting to avoid answering serious questions that have arisen about the stated intent of the Foundation to “money-ball’ the criminal justice system. In particular, I’m concerned that the tool is being criticized as not accurately predicting risk, leading judges and public officials to wrongly believe people are safe when, in fact, they are dangerous, reckless, and creating more persons who face the impact of this crime in our communities."

Patricia Wenskunas, founder and CEO of Crime Survivors, took aim at the Arnold Foundation’s “public safety assessment” (PSA) in a letter addressed to Matt Alsdorf,...
