Friends, Romans, Insureds…that was quite the hailstorm!
BEFORE you file a claim, here are some good things to know as you make decisions:
- Find a roofer you know and trust to inspect your roof. We will be glad to provide recommendations if you need some.
- If you file a claim and there is no damage (“covered peril”) it still goes on your claim record, so having a reputable roofing company take a look before filing the claim is extremely important.
- Be cautious of roofers knocking on your door and encouraging you to file a claim without inspecting your roof. On that note, no one should file a claim on your policy but you. I always encourage speaking with our office rather than online or after hours.
- It seems crazy, but it is not uncommon for one home to have damage while the home next door has none due to the roof age, condition, pitch or direction the slope faces being different.
- If you end up replacing your roof, use this as an opportunity to install an approved impact resistant shingle. Not only will these give you better future protection but it is also a discount on your home insurance. We can provide you with an approved list.
Our offices will be open tomorrow at 9am to assist if you have any questions. 918-286-7813.
