As many of you know that I participate in an online Bible study on Tuesday mornings. It is an inductive study. We choose a few verses, take time to contemplate & share with each other what the Holy Spirit has laid on our hearts with each other. It is so inspiring & insightful to get a deeper understanding of God’s living word.
We are working through Hebrews & it has been eye opening.

Along the Cinque Terre, Italy was a stone church. We stopped to step in & was amazed. It was done in alternating black & white stone. The door must have been bronze, now green, but it had unusual sculptures on it. A treasure for sure!

In Florence Italy, I got to see the original “David “ by Michael Angelo. Here are some things the tour guide brought to our attention…
David was made out of the poorest marble. It is very porous & so easy to get debris in & break.
He was to be on top of a city building.
The hands & head were made bigger so that you could see them more clearly.
There is a stone in the right hand & a sling shot in the left.
His stance is getting ready to kill Goliath. I always thought it was after.
Michael studied the human body in the coroner’s office. That is why he took careful sculpting of the veins, jaw muscles, stance , etc that made this sculpture so fascinating to behold.

On my trip to Florence Italy, we toured the Duomo. It is massive! I think it would easily take up 4 Bismarck city blocks. The outside was so decorative. Much of the accents are in gold, especially the paintings that you can see in the front, if you zoom in.
The inside had a clock & warrior paintings. It was surprisingly plain compared to the outside.
