Hi my name is Jonathan Farchi-Segal and I am the CEO and founder of Equity Portal. I graduated from NYU in 2020 where I studied finance and global business. I was born in Guatemala and grew up in south Florida.
I realized how hard it is to navigate capital raises for a new business. Founders don’t know where to start. I figured a lot of people quit on their dreams because they are unable to raise the capital they need to keep going forwards. I also realized this resulted in lost opportunity. Maybe the next Facebook didn’t get started because someone couldn’t raise the funds.  
At Equity Portal, our mission is to ensure more businesses get funded and more ideas becoming businesses. I also want someone to say that they invested in the next big thing at the very beginning. People should be able to raise money from anyone, through the internet. Colleges have great startups and a lot of them, so why not focus on them. 
I hope that in 5 years, a company which initially raised on Equity Portal becomes a unicorn. I want to eventually spread to every university in the United States and do fundraising for all of their startups. 
People should invest in college startups because that’s where the most innovative ideas are coming from. The young people are the future, they know the trends, and they are making the future. If you want a better future for humanity, you have to invest in young people with radical ideas.
