Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the remainder of hurricane season, yet $640 million has been allotted to DHS specifically for issues related to illegal immigrants.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds — FEMA does not have the funds — to make it through the season,” Mayorkas revealed.

Hueytown, Bessemer, and Adger friends and family.

I bought a car from H & M Motor on 15th Street in Hueytown on Saturday.
We bought the car for $6,600, drove it home, didn’t drive it Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Drove it Wednesday to take teenager to school. While driving it the car started slowing down. When I gave it gas, the rpm needle moved but not the car. I took it directly to a Nissan dealership and paid $175 for them to tell me the transmission was shot. Went back to H &M Motor located on 15th Street in Hueytown and talked to the guy who sold me the car. (Well, they first lied to me and said no one was at the dealership, but I went there someone was there.) The owner took the car for a drive and went on and on about how the car was driving great and doing exactly was it was suppose to do. Guess what? Within 5 minutes of his speech, the car did it again. RPM needle worked but car was not engaged. Now, H & M Motors located on 15th Street in Hueytown will NOT pay 1/2 of the cost for a new transmission which I thought was a very fair offer.
Buyer beware of this place!

"'On-demand' insurance company expands US reach" - An on-demand insurance platform for single items is expanding its reach in the US.

Trov, a platform which allows customers to insure single items – like an expensive camera or smartphone – has announced that its coverage will now be available in four new states: Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota and Delaware. Trov is already available in Arizona.

Trov acts as a digital broker, according to a report by Forbes. It sells “micro-policies” for personal items like smartphones and tablets, sporting gear, photography equipment or musical instruments. The items are actually covered by KnightBrook Insurance Company – and they’re covered anywhere in the world that policyholders go.

"You Will Thank Us Later – 5 Tips to Create a Retirement Plan for Entrepreneurs" - Most working class Americans are employed by companies that either require or offer retirement savings options in the form of a 401(k), 403b), or pension plan. Because these contributions are automatically deducted from the employee’s paycheck, saving for retirement tends to be a rather painless process. Over time, the cumulative effect of regular monthly contributions leads to a nice sized nest egg that can be used in the retirement years.

But for entrepreneurs, the story is a little different. With no steady paycheck or employer-sponsored plans, many of these hardworking individuals forgo retirement contributions. And though it may not seem like a big deal in the early years, this misstep can prove to be dangerous and irresponsible as entrepreneurs age.

"IRS Publishes Final Guidance On The 20% Pass-Through Deduction: Putting It All Together" - In its most simple terms, Section 199A grants an individual business owner -- as well as some trusts and estates -- a deduction equal to 20% of the taxpayer's qualified business income. For business owners with taxable income in excess of $207,000 ($415,000 in the case of taxpayers married filing jointly), however, no deduction is allowed against income earned in a "specified service trade or business." In addition, at these same income levels, the deduction against income earned in an eligible business is limited to the greater of:

50% of the taxpayer's share of the W-2 wages with respect to the qualified trade or business, or the sum of 25% of the taxpayer's share of the W-2 wages with respect to the qualified trade or business, plus 2.5% of the taxpayer's share of the unadjusted basis immediately after acquisition of all qualified property.

"Small Businesses Added 89K Jobs in December 2018, ADP reports" - The December 2018 ADP National Employment Report revealed small businesses almost doubled the number of jobs they created in November.

While November managed a respectable 46,000 jobs, small businesses delivered a record high in December 2018 with 89,000 jobs. The high numbers come despite the current tariff battle taking place with China and an erratic stock market which manages to end on the upside after record-breaking downturns.
