🌳 Insurance Tip: Who Pays When a Tree Falls?
A big storm rolls through, and suddenly a tree or large limb is down. One of the first questions homeowners ask is: “Whose insurance pays for this?”
The answer isn’t always based simply on whose property the tree came from. Coverage can depend on what was damaged, why the tree fell, the condition of the tree beforehand, and the specific terms of the policies involved.
For example, a healthy tree falling during a storm can be handled differently from a tree that was visibly damaged or neglected before it fell.
💡 Agent Kim Tip: Take photos of your property before storm season, keep trees properly maintained, and document concerns about potentially hazardous trees near your home.
And remember—tree removal by itself may be treated differently than damage caused by the fallen tree, depending on the policy.
