Roughly 90% of homes in South Mississippi have fiberboard ductwork.
There’s several reasons this material is so commonly used.
It’s cheap. It’s easy to install. And in warm, coastal climates, it’s preferred because it doesnt rust like metal ducts.
However, it has one major downside.
The lining on the airflow side of the duct is porous and offers an perfect substrate for mold to colonize.

Hiring the wrong mold contracter it is not like hiring the wrong painter.

Often times, failures on mitigation and abatement projects aren’t as obvious as those in regular home improvement projects.

These issues can go unnoticed for weeks, months, even years.. and the cost of these failures isn’t just an eyesore- it’s your family’s health.

Many times the FIRST SIGN of a problem is an occupants health issues!

In addition to the health costs, the financial costs associated with poorly done mitigation projects is also MUCH higher!

If your contractor drops the ball on a mitigation or abatement project, you probably won’t be able to just have someone pick up where they left off.

The projects are HIGH STAKES and likely to worsen if given the chance..

Here’s a few things you can take to the bank..

1. If you live on the Gulf Coast, you more than likely have some type of internally lined ductwork.

2. If you have internally lined ductwork, there’s a 99% chance you’re blowing mold throughout your home every time the unit runs.

3. If you hire someone other than Clean Air Crew to clean your HVAC system, you’re paying for an incomplete, subpar, partial scope.  Which means you’re essentially paying for nothing. Because mold left in any part of the system, allows spores to continue circulating throughout the home.

The majority of the homes in South Mississippi have Duct board or fiber board ductwork.

In the past several years, dozens of companies have started duct cleaning, and they’re doing it all wrong.

The airflow out of this is extremely friable. If you have your ducts cleaned and not encapsulated, fiberglass will begin spreading through the home through the vents.
